Designer Sunglasses: Why Are They Cool?

To some, it’s super metro Aviators a la Top Gun.Others worship Blues Brothers' Ray Bans or the Dude Lebowski.Everyone maintains that Ray Bans are the choice of "His Dudeness" but no one can identify them.Maybe they are a discontinued model, since the wardrobe for the Dude was Bridges' own gear!   Not many are thinking Dr Strangelove when it comes to designer sunglasses!   For others it might just be the brand name of their designer sunglasses that’s vital:  Animal, Burberry, D&G, Diesel, Emporio Armani, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Ray-Ban, Prada, Tommy Hilfiger or YSL.
What's all the fuss about "Cool"?After all, the basic task of sunglasses, even if they are designer sunglasses, is to provide protection from dangerous UV rays.  The essential bit about sunglasses is that they provide ultra violet protection (preferably 100% protection) from UV radiation and what with the ozone layer being depleted, that’s even more vital as UV rays can cause lasting and permanent damage to your eyes if the right precautionary measures aren’t taken.  At the very least they should guard against glare, especially when you are driving.
"Cool" is just big businesses take on peer group pressure.Cool is basically what we did as infants - it's a smile or an attitude that gets the reaction we want from those we want to impress. As a teen, friends and peers are the most important people. For gown ups, those people are more likely to be the opposite sex - or same if that's your bag.
Naturally, whatever brand name you opt for, get the designer sunglasses that look best on you. Different shapes of face can completely alter the look of the same pair of sunglasses.Buy sunglasses to suit your hair colour, skin tone and face shape. When making your choice, remember to consider frame shape and colour. Keep your complexion and skin tone in mind when choosing sunglasses. If fashion is important to you, then match designer sunglasses to your outfits by all means! Get yourself a few pairs to match your extensive wardrobe.
Let's not start to dismiss the notion of "Cool" altogether, because self esteem is also important.  We all have to feel good about ourselves to gain the respect and acceptance of our friends. Even more important, and the one thing we have total control over, is what we actually do with our own abilities.  That is the secret of self-esteem.   And if thinking you look cool or good in a pair of designer sunglasses reinforces that perception and self esteem and encourages you to be confident and assertive, then where’s the harm in that?
